One of the things that has become most clear to me in writing this project is how openly the Russians buy into climate denial. One could see it almost as a source of pride on their part to be able to fend off information. I do not want to use this as an objectifying point because the exact same thing is true with probably the vast majority of westerners that I know. This is not true when it comes to ideas of global warming. Westerners believe in that. But they are equally as good at sending off information and defending their delicate sensibilities against attack. Attack by the way is any information as everyone is suffering from information overload.

But the Russians are very sincere and direct about giving the finger to global warming. Their personal egotistical entitlement is everything. Perhaps we can draw a straight line from leadership down. Trump was a perfect example of this in how he encouraged and brought to the front what would normally be considered as marginalized people who were perfectly happy to become savages given the opportunity. And this is the norm in Russia so you can see how these lines connect.

But I’m going to try and find at least some articles that bring the truth to the front. I have six here in English that I don’t think will be anything new to anybody but at least we’ll give a reasonable overview of the story.

But when I repeat this essay on the Russian side, I guarantee it’s going to be a different sort of information. you’re welcome to click over there and use your browser’s translator service to get a good idea of what’s going on and in fact I do recommend that you play with both sides of this site. It’s quite enlightening for both sides to understand exactly the sorts of information that the others are getting.

Is global warming real?
Scientific consensus is overwhelming: The planet is getting warmer, and humans are behind it.
In recent years, global warming and climate change have been the subject of a great deal of political controversy, especially in the U.S. But as the science becomes clearer and consensus grows impossible to ignore, debate is moving away from whether humans are causing warming and toward questions about how best to respond.

Climate Change: How Do We Know?
Earth’s climate has changed throughout history. Just in the last 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat, with the abrupt end of the last ice age about 11,700 years ago marking the beginning of the modern climate era — and of human civilization. Most of these climate changes are attributed to very small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives. The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is extremely likely (greater than 95% probability) to be the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over decades to millennia.

Global Warming: Is It Real?
The atmospheric loading of several greenhouse gases is increasing. The most important of these is carbon dioxide, which is emitted to the atmosphere when fossil fuel is burned to supply energy. In this paper I discuss the implications of this in terms of global warming, and address the claims of the skeptics in the scientific community.

Analysis: Why scientists think 100% of global warming is due to humans
The extent of the human contribution to modern global warming is a hotly debated topic in political circles, particularly in the US.
During a recent congressional hearing, Rick Perry, the US energy secretary, remarked that “to stand up and say that 100% of global warming is because of human activity, I think on its face, is just indefensible”. However, the science on the human contribution to modern warming is quite clear. Humans emissions and activities have caused around 100% of the warming observed since 1950, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) fifth assessment report.

So I think the first thing that comes to my mind is that this just makes sense. I mean, there are arguments that people give you and you look at them sideways and you say “okay, I can see that that’s possible but maybe it’s not possible,” but I don’t see this it’s one of those arguments. I live in an apartment building and many people who live in the surrounding area drive cars and every morning the air is filled with carbon monoxide poison simply because these people believe it is their right to use this vehicle to go to work. They could walk, ride a bicycle, take public transportation or pick up some kind of electric transportation vehicle that are appearing all over the place. I even like E -assist bicycles that have an electric motor to help you go up hills if you don’t have the legs to do that.

But they don’t. They just keep burning the fossil fuels and throwing it up into the atmosphere and into our bodies. They are poisoning everything and everyone and do so thoughtlessly as if no one should ever think badly of them.

So perhaps this is a matter of consciousness or perhaps it’s just a matter of rampant egotism. Perhaps the propaganda in favor of human activity and making money is such that people feel patriotic somehow by poisoning their neighbors. But it must stop. It must stop or we all die from cancer. And when we go, we take all future generations and all life on the planet with us. That’s not denial, that’s insanity.
