INVESTORS AND PATRONS

It is possible to sponsor the Utopian! as well as the green 2021 project.

Sponsorships can take many forms but the basic gist is all money is to be spent on human resources to do ecological cleanup work. It’s also possible to support a small staff for the production of the Utopian!

It’s possible to hit the PayPal link or to send money via any other banking scheme. If you’d like to support any work being done here, please let us know.

Some thoughts of sustainable projects

A couple of years ago, I was asked to make a list of things where money could be used to improve the local ecological cleanup movement. Projects included forest and river cleanup, to do natural scythe grass cutting and distribution of organic material as a local enterprise as well as bicycle delivery services and public assistance.

The following list is something like a business plan but it includes a lot of the local ideas that got touched upon when the project began. Everything is still possible.

A proposal for an ecological enterprise

The basic idea behind this proposal is to generate investment in the private sector for the purposes of improving quality of life of the community. The basic organization concerns the following areas of interest:

  1. Increased investment in green energy technologies to move away from fossil fuel burning electrical generation and move it towards more viable renewable sources such as wind, solar or water.
  2. To make use of currently unused existing structures for the purposes of creating small and large community-based businesses working in the fields of food security, transportation and ecological energy creation.
  3. To make all of these entities employment intensive so as to increase vested interest in the community by allowing as many people to contribute as possible.
  4. And to make the entire organization transparent, 100% volunteer and to be an equal pay and profit sharing Enterprise.

Towards this end, the project recommends the following small businesses.

  1. A bakery at the individual farmers markets providing hand needed and whole grain bread products and food generated directly from available food at the marketplace.
  2. A bicycle delivery service from the farmers market to make sure that farm fresh produce can be delivered to homes without additional plastic.
  3. The production and sale of both permanent carry bags and baskets for shoppers and paper bags to replace plastic.
  4. And possibly to open a restaurant using all of the above tools but with a slightly wider menu available. This would be a purely vegan establishment and would only use locally raised products transported locally by bicycle.

For larger scale investment, the project also recommends the following businesses making use of current empty or unused factory and civic spaces as multi-purpose production facilities and places of recreation.

During the winter months:

  1. To use current open factory spaces for the production of indoor greens and growing
  2. To use the same spaces during the winter for indoor bicycle, skateboard, rollerblade or running parks.

During the summer months:

  1. To use these facilities for the fabrication of 5 to 10 kilowatt wind generators
  2. Solar panels
  3. Small scale electric and semi-electric transportation vehicles.

The indoor growing facility also has possibilities to incorporate a bakery, restaurant and food delivery division.

And finally but not as an afterthought, to invest in community recreation and entertainment, the following projects are suggested:

Using the currently unused stadium next to the movie theater:

To make a semi or uncovered velodrome and running track

  1. To make from the surrounding area a full featured mountain bike run
  2. To make use of the center area as a bmx, skateboard, rollerblade and general street fitness facility

This also has the possibility of a fresh bakery, restaurant and food delivery service.

Making use of the already existing house of culture:

To create an improvisational entertainment group specifically to do Saturday night community entertainment

  1. To create a center for community theater and filmmaking making use of people who wish to participate in the entertainment business for the community. This of course would be people who are interested in singing, dancing, comedy, acting, musicians, clowns etc and for those who wish to write for the above productions.

And as a note, though technically the house of culture already exists in this regard, I am not aware of any group’s ability to make shows of the nature recommended above. If I’m wrong, please tell me how that works and we’ll get directly to work on it.

Making use of we already existing typographic facility:

To create a community-based children’s book project bringing together writers and artists to produce locally made literary resources for young people

  1. To create a community based literature project for writers of any age who wish to share their ideas

And finally, making use of any open and available spaces

To open community gardening spaces with shared tools and resources for people to grow food and maintain flowers and other decoratives

  1. To open community bicycle workshops to help keep people serviced and their instruments of transportation moving

It is the hope and view of this project that creating the above entities would increase community involvement and growth by increasing individual vested interest of community members and raise the quality of life for everyone living in the town. Better food and more available greens during the winter, a healthier form of transportation, a diminishment both on reliance on fossil fuels and an increase in public health.

Potential returns for investment

***

Everything that can be done exclusively by hand is getting done and those things that require a little financial investment are simply waiting for some financial investment. I’m pretty excited about a lot of these things and the best part of all of it is that there is no one thing on this list that I don’t want to be a part of.

We need some seed money to make all of these things start moving. We have the place to make our books and clothes, but they need money to start the process. We have people ready to go to work, but they need to know that they will be paid. And we need the tools we need to start making some important potentially proffitable things, but we need money before manyfacturing can begin.

We have the plan, we have the technology, materials and available manpower. All we need is the initial investment to get started.

The green 2021 project is seeking investment in the following projects:
(note: specific pages for each part of the project will be added every day)

Small local investment:

The bakery and delivery service
The Library essay and Children’s book project
Film/Theatre projects

Large scale investment

5 kw wind generators
Belarusian solar panels
Belarusian Bicycle/E assit and electric vehicles
Geothermal heatingand cooling
Indoor and verticle grow farms
Human powered energy
And indoor and outdoor bike parks
