Sometimes you just have to ask a question in order to get an answer. I think it’s a boat this more than anything. Teaching English is kind of strange in this way that people don’t really understand that a language is not just made of statements. You can also ask a question. You can also say no. It’s all part of the game.
How exactly do you play this game? Why is it like this? I really don’t understand why you guys do what you do? I mean, I can probably figure out what’s going on in your head but that doesn’t really answer the question. Maybe I’ll draw you an illustration.

I’m teaching my boy to listen when I talk.
Is that how you teach the boy? With your fists?
And then accentuating it rhythmically to prove his point more.
Sometimes he just does not listen.
I mean take a look at this here y’all. Is this what you want in your house? Is this the kind of noise you want to come home to? Is this really where you want to tell everybody with great pride that you come from? I’m not saying that you can’t do better. But you could probably do better.
Right here in this moment while I’m writing these words, you should have heard the rumble in the land. Boy they go, those tanks. I mean, it’s not really a tank. It’s just a car. But the whole land shakes every time it drives. Isn’t that funny? The land shakes. I’m not even on the land. I’m inside and the house sits up on a foundation. The foundation is concrete and the house is mostly wood frame. How do I feel that car so completely? Can you imagine what the plants feel like around here?
We have an environmental problem and it comes from people believing that they don’t have to clean up after themselves or that it’s some kind of a big pat on the back for doing your job. I don’t really know how to talk to you anymore because obviously we’ve gone so far down the opposite roads that neither one of us expects to see the other. And I can’t blame either one of us for thinking that. But you can do what you can do. You can try. You can just try making friends with your neighbors and get together and grow some food together because something tells me it might be a skill that you need looking forward. You know, practice now, teach it to your kids and make it important. There’s lots of different things you can spend your money on. I’m just saying that this is probably a good thing to have.
